Players looking to live out their rockstar fantasies in Night City now have a new avenue to explore, thanks to the 'Guitar Gigs Across Night City' mod for Cyberpunk 2077. This mod expands on the game's existing musical performances, offering a series of quests that allow players to become a touring musician.
The mod introduces six quests, a progression system, and new venues for players to perform at. As players advance, they can attract larger crowds and earn better rewards. Johnny Silverhand, the iconic character voiced by Keanu Reeves, will also join in for certain performances, adding a familiar presence to the player's gigs. These performances are enhanced with custom cinematics, showing interactions such as a post-performance chat with Johnny. However, the dialogue in these cinematics appears to reuse lines from the base game.
One of the mod's notable features is the ability for players to add their own custom songs to the setlist by placing MP3 files in a designated folder. This functionality requires a degree of suspension of disbelief, as the game's animations will not dynamically adjust to the custom music, meaning the on-screen finger movements may not match the actual song being played. Once a player performs at a venue, they can return to play there again at any time.
To install 'Guitar Gigs Across Night City,' players will need to have several other mods already in place. These include ArchiveXL, AudioXL, Codeware, RED4ext, Redscript, and TweakXL. An optional extra mod, 'Playable Guitar Weapon - Play Your Songs,' allows players to carry their guitar around off-stage.
