Cyberpunk 2077 has achieved a significant sales milestone, surpassing 40 million copies sold as of July 3. This figure encompasses sales of both the base game and its Ultimate Edition. The announcement from CD Projekt Red follows a period of renewed interest, partly driven by a recent Steam sale that reduced the game's price by 70% to $18.

The RPG has seen a notable resurgence since its challenging launch in December 2020. CD Projekt Red has consistently supported and updated the game, a commitment that has culminated in substantial improvements and the release of the acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion in 2023. This sustained effort has led many to view Cyberpunk 2077 as one of the most successful game comebacks in recent history.

Previously, CD Projekt Red reported sales of 35 million copies in November 2025. The developer noted that Cyberpunk 2077 is selling at a faster pace than its previous major title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which has sold over 60 million units to date, making it one of the best-selling games of all time.

Looking ahead, CD Projekt Red is actively developing a sequel, tentatively titled Cyberpunk 2, at its new Boston studio, with additional teams contributing from Warsaw and Vancouver. The company also has plans for multiple new Witcher titles, with The Witcher 4, 5, and 6 slated for release within a six-year timeframe.
