Cyberpunk 2077 is receiving a significant update, version 2.5, which launches tomorrow, October 22. This update coincides with the release of the second series of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime and introduces a variety of new content and features.
New Quests and Content
The update includes an Edgerunners 2-themed prequel quest titled "Clampdown," which offers gear inspired by the anime. Additionally, a new radio station will feature music from both the first and second seasons of Edgerunners. Another quest, "Welcome to Paradise," will delve into Night City's lore by presenting projected lectures from its founder, Richard Night, and involves solving an underlying mystery.
Gameplay Enhancements
A new perk called "Double Trouble" will enable players to dual-wield pistols and revolvers, though this functionality is restricted to power handguns. This addition aims to provide a more dynamic combat experience without an overwhelming balance impact, according to CD Projekt Red's Paweł Sasko.
Visual customization for hand cyberware is also being introduced through five new "glamdocs." These vendors specialize in cosmetic enhancements for cyberware like gorilla arms and projectile launchers, offering 40 alternative appearances that mimic styles from various Night City factions. Players can further personalize these through color options, such as applying Arasaka-themed designs to Mantis Blades.
Modding and Future Updates
Update 2.5 also brings cross-platform modding support, which is expected to simplify the modding process for both PC and console players. While the exact number of future updates remains uncertain, the ongoing support suggests CD Projekt Red continues to invest in the game's evolution.
