Cyberpunk 2077 Update Adds Dual-Wielding, Cross-Platform Mods, and Edgerunners Content

CD Projekt Red has announced a significant upcoming update for Cyberpunk 2077, set to introduce a host of new features and improvements. The patch will bring dual-wielding capabilities for pistols and revolvers, enhanced cyberware customization, cross-platform mod support, and a new story quest tied to the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime.

The update is scheduled for release on October 22nd for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version to follow shortly after. While details on the Edgerunners-related quest were kept sparse, CD Projekt Red confirmed it was written in collaboration with individuals involved in the anime and will act as a prequel to Edgerunners 2. Players can expect to encounter characters from the King's team, including Emily, Meshuga, and Miguel. A new Edgerunners radio station featuring 16 tracks from both anime seasons will also be added.

New Quests and Activities

The update introduces "Night City Tours," a more relaxed questline narrated by Richard Night, founder of the city, which offers lore insights as players unravel a mystery. Additionally, 12 new Minor Arcana Tarot Cards will be discoverable across Night City, extending the "Fool on the Hill" side quest and offering a special reward for collectors.

Modding and Customization

In line with recent trends, Cyberpunk 2077 will receive cross-platform mod support through a partnership with mod platform Mod.io. An in-game menu will allow players to browse and install mods directly, with more content expected to be added over time. This feature will be available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Cyberware customization is also being expanded with "glam docs" located throughout Night City. These vendors offer visual upgrades for Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and Projectile Launch Systems, allowing players to customize the appearance and color of their implants.

Technical Enhancements and Quality of Life Updates

Players can look forward to several performance and quality-of-life improvements. A long-requested Field of View (FOV) slider will be implemented on consoles. The update also includes support for DLSS 4.5, featuring enhanced frame generation and a second-generation Transformer Model. Mac users will benefit from MetalFX Frame Interpolation and Denoising. Further optimizations are planned for Ray Tracing, PlayStation 5 Pro, and HDR rendering. Other quality-of-life additions include grouped save files in the load menu, item filters for stashes, and updated CD PROJEKT RED account and rewards menus.
