CD Projekt Red has announced a substantial free update for Cyberpunk 2077, scheduled for release on October 22. This update coincides with the launch of the second season of the anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, on Netflix.
The new content will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a version for Nintendo Switch 2 following shortly thereafter. According to a press release from CDPR, the update aims to "introduce a range of new items and features to the game, including content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2."
Further details regarding the update's contents are expected to be revealed during a livestream scheduled for October 21 at 5 PM CEST (4 PM BST). The second season of the Edgerunners anime is available to stream now on Netflix. Its predecessor garnered significant acclaim, and CD Projekt Red, along with animation studio Trigger, appear to be building on that success.
This renewed focus on the Cyberpunk franchise is likely to further boost sales for Cyberpunk 2077, which has already surpassed 40 million units sold. More information on the update and impressions of Edgerunners 2 will be shared as they become available.
