A recent trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has sparked excitement among fans, not only for its glimpse of new characters like Weak Kingsley and Talia Yang, but also for an intricately detailed location from the Cyberpunk 2077 game. The trailer opens with a shot of Night City's skyline reflected in a puddle. This seemingly tranquil scene is disrupted when Weak Kingsley's damaged robotic arm falls into the water.

Dedicated fans quickly identified the puddle's precise location in the game: outside The Afterlife, a prominent bar in Night City owned by Rogue Amendiares and a frequent haunt for Johnny Silverhand. The official Cyberpunk: Edgerunners X account acknowledged the fan's sharp observation, stating, "You know Night City like the palm of your hand, choom."

Further speculation arose from a data shard seen in D's possession, which bears a strong resemblance to a "relic" from the game. Relics are experimental data chips created by Arasaka capable of mapping and imprinting a person's consciousness onto another. This technology is central to Cyberpunk 2077's narrative, notably in the transfer of Johnny Silverhand's mind into the player character, V.

Some viewers are theorizing that this particular relic might contain multiple consciousnesses, a notion supported by a line from Roman Carax in the trailer: "You're a weapon? A weapon made out of people?"

This is not the first time fans have demonstrated an impressive knowledge of Cyberpunk 2077's world in relation to the Edgerunners anime. Previously, a fan named Kalenko identified several in-game locations referenced in the second trailer for the new season, including the bridge connecting Watson and the City Center, the entrance to The Afterlife, the Deravaja Dojo, and Kabuki Market.

CD Projekt Red has previously shown its appreciation for the anime by adding David's apartment as an explorable area in Cyberpunk 2077, mirroring the anime's inclusion of game locations. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is slated for release on Netflix on October 20, 2026.
