A 2.5D brawler based on the acclaimed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime is reportedly in development by Shantae developer WayForward. The project, codenamed "Gemini," has been in development since 2025, according to a report from MP1st that cites an unnamed former WayForward employee. The game is said to be in the research and design phase and is envisioned as a "rollback-driven" brawler, drawing parallels to WayForward's own River City Girls series.

It remains uncertain if the project is still actively being developed. MP1st reports that WayForward had an unrelated external franchise game canceled last year due to lost funding, which led to layoffs in September. It is unknown if "Gemini" was affected by this cancellation.

CD Projekt has been contacted for comment, and updates will be provided if a response is received. In the interim, fans can anticipate a second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which is slated to premiere on Netflix this fall. The new season's setting is currently a subject of fan analysis based on recent trailers. Previous discussions have also explored how the first season's conclusion was nearly even more tragic.

On the video game front, CD Projekt Red is developing Cyberpunk 2, with 163 employees dedicated to the project as of April. While details remain scarce, Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith has teased aspects of his involvement with the sequel, previously known as Project Orion. Keanu Reeves has also expressed interest in reprising his role as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2. Pondsmith has indicated he has devised a way for the character's return to be narratively consistent and has invited Reeves to discuss it further.

However, Cyberpunk 2 is not expected to release until at least 2030, as CD Projekt is prioritizing development on The Witcher 4. This timeline has led some Cyberpunk 2077 fans to call for additional downloadable content for the game, similar to the approach taken with The Witcher 3.
