Brotherwise Games is expanding the reach of its versatile Plotweaver RPG System, originally developed for the Cosmere Roleplaying Game based on Brandon Sanderson's novels. The company announced at Gen Con that the system will now power new tabletop experiences, notably a genre-hopping TTRPG from Dungeons & Dragons designer Keith Baker.
Baker, known for creating the Eberron setting for D&D, will be collaborating with Twogether Studios, which he leads with Jenn Ellis, on a new game tentatively titled Infinite. This project will leverage the Plotweaver system, which was designed to accommodate diverse settings with varying technological and magical frameworks, a challenge faced when adapting the interconnected worlds of Sanderson's Cosmere.
Brotherwise Games plans to offer the Plotweaver RPG System's rules and templates online for free, enabling other designers to create their own games. An open alpha test for the system, set in an original fantasy world called Erstwild, is scheduled to begin on August 5. Further settings are slated for release in the fall, with an open beta planned for next year.
In addition to Infinite, Earthborn Games will utilize the Plotweaver system to develop an RPG set within the world of its solarpunk co-operative card game, Earthborne Rangers. This Earthborn Games RPG will be available for pre-order as part of a Plotweaver crowdfunding campaign targeted for the second quarter of 2027.
Furthermore, Keith Baker will be judging a Plotweaver Setting Search contest, set to launch in early 2027. This competition invites designers to submit their ideas for potential official Brotherwise releases, offering a chance for new settings to be developed using the Plotweaver system.
