Dan Ayoub Named New President of Wizards of the Coast

Hasbro has appointed Dan Ayoub as the new president of Wizards of the Coast, the company announced on October 27. Ayoub will also lead Hasbro Digital Games. His tenure officially begins on November 2.

Ayoub brings a wealth of experience to the role, having joined Wizards of the Coast in 2022 to oversee its digital studios. He also held the position of senior vice president of Dungeons & Dragons. Prior to his work at Wizards of the Coast, Ayoub served as an executive producer and studio head at 343 Industries, the developer behind the Halo franchise.

In a statement, Ayoub expressed his enthusiasm for the new position. "Magic and D&D have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and the teams behind them are among the best in the world," he said. "We'll put fans first, respect the artists and creators who make these worlds come alive, and set an ambitious course for growth across tabletop and digital. I can't wait to get started."

His appointment follows a period where Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks temporarily oversaw Wizards of the Coast after former president John Hight moved to an advisory role in early September.

With Ayoub's background in digital game development, Hasbro appears poised to further expand Wizards of the Coast's presence in the video game market. The company is currently working on several notable titles. Archetype Entertainment, a division led by veteran RPG developer James Ohlen, is developing the science-fiction RPG Exodus, slated for release on April 7, 2027. Another upcoming project is Warlock, a single-player Dungeons & Dragons action-adventure game from Invoke Studios, which has a 2027 release window. While no concrete plans are in place, Hasbro has also indicated a desire to eventually develop Baldur's Gate 4.
