Dark Souls 2 and 3 Servers Go Dark Indefinitely Due to Unspecified Issue

FromSoftware has announced that the online servers for Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 are temporarily unavailable across all platforms. The developer cited an unspecified issue as the reason for the shutdown.

This means that features such as PvP invasions, summon signs, and in-game messages will be inaccessible. FromSoftware has not provided a timeline for when online play will be restored and stated that updates will be provided once more information is available. The studio apologized for the inconvenience.

This is not the first time the Dark Souls series has experienced server disruptions. In 2022, Bandai Namco took the servers for all three Dark Souls games offline due to a security vulnerability discovered in Dark Souls 3. The servers for the threequel were subsequently taken offline again a few months later.

FromSoftware's upcoming multiplayer-focused title, The Duskbloods, has also faced server issues. Its initial network test had to be concluded early due to vague "server issues." Additionally, the developer recently announced a delay for its Switch 2 exclusive, also titled The Duskbloods, pushing its launch window to 2027.
