A new mod for Dark Souls 2 aims to resolve long-standing issues with the game's multiplayer by enabling seamless co-op play for up to five players. Developed by Yui, who previously created similar mods for Elden Ring and the original Dark Souls, the "Dark Souls 2: Seamless Co-op" mod is currently in alpha.
Uninterrupted Multiplayer
The mod theoretically allows players to experience the entire game from start to finish in a single co-op session. Unlike the base game's multiplayer, which often involves interrupting progress with fog walls and specific summoning mechanics, this mod removes these barriers. When a player dies, they respawn at their last bonfire without ending the co-op session, facilitating a smoother experience.
Modding Accessibility
Yui's mod introduces unique in-game items such as "Pharros' Heliograph" and "Petrified Fingers" to manage its features, maintaining a sense of in-game integration. This approach offers a significantly more accessible way to enjoy Dark Souls 2 with friends, especially for those who have explored every corner of the game since its original release.
Ongoing Support
Since its release, Yui has been actively updating the mod. A recent patch addressed a performance issue that affected players with Intel processors. Players encountering problems are encouraged to check the mod's Nexus page or Yui's Patreon for the latest fixes and updates.
