Dave the Diver is set to conclude its downloadable content plans with a new collaboration featuring the world of Subnautica 2. The unexpected crossover, announced via a reveal trailer, sees the titular Dave venturing into Subnautica's ocean moon.
Players will be able to navigate the alien waters alongside Subnautica's unique aquatic life. The trailer also shows Dave encountering the game's imposing Leviathan, which appears less than pleased with the intrusion.
Mintrocket studio director Jaeho Hwang stated that while both games are set underwater, Subnautica's distinct approach to exploration provided an opportunity to bring a fresh wave to the Dave the Diver experience. Anthony Gallegos, Subnautica 2's creative director, described the collaboration as a "love letter to both Dave the Diver and the Subnautica universe."
Details regarding a potential appearance by Dave in Subnautica 2 have not yet been confirmed, which is unsurprising given that Subnautica 2 is currently in early access. Subnautica 2's most recent update arrived in August, introducing proximity chat. A new developer vlog series is scheduled to begin this month, which may offer further information on the game's upcoming 2.0 early access update.
