DC Comics Announces Absolute Justice Miniseries at NYCC

DC Comics revealed plans for a new miniseries titled Absolute Justice at New York Comic-Con, set to launch in April 2027. The series will feature a reunion of several prominent DC heroes, including Absolute Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern (Jo Mullein), and Flash (Wally West). This marks the first time this particular lineup will assemble within the Absolute Universe continuity.

According to reports from the event, Martian Manhunter is instrumental in bringing the team together. While some characters have prior interactions, Absolute Justice will be their inaugural joint mission. The miniseries is structured to not interrupt the ongoing narratives of individual character titles. A trailer for the series suggests a significant threat, with Darkseid and other cosmic entities issuing a dire warning to the heroes: "Abandon all hope."

The creative team behind Absolute Justice includes writer Jason Aaron, known for his work on Absolute Superman, and artist Juan Ferreyra, who has previously worked on Green Arrow and Spine-Tingling Spider-Man.

Further Absolute Universe Developments

Beyond the Absolute Justice announcement, other updates concerning the Absolute Universe were shared. Cliff Chiang is slated to fill in for Nick Dragotta as the artist for January's Absolute Batman issue #26. Additionally, a new one-shot titled Absolute Black Canary is planned for release next year. The character of Black Canary was initially introduced in Absolute Green Arrow, a series that was later expanded from its original six-issue run to twelve.

The Absolute Universe line has seen critical success, with Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman receiving Eisner Award nominations in 2025, and Absolute Wonder Woman ultimately winning Best New Series. This initiative reimagines established DC heroes by focusing on their core elements, stripping away traditional trappings such as Batman's butler, mansion, and wealth. The line's expansion into other media was previously signaled by the announcement of an Absolute Batman animated series in June.
