Dead Space to Haunt Battlefield 6 in New Limited-Time Mode

Electronic Arts is bringing the Dead Space franchise back into the spotlight with a new limited-time game mode in Battlefield 6. This Halloween event will introduce elements from the survival-horror series into EA's popular first-person shooter.

While the critically acclaimed Dead Space remake from 2023 did not meet sales expectations, EA appears committed to keeping the franchise alive. The new mode was revealed in a trailer for Battlefield 6's fifth season, which also highlights new maps set in a destructible Las Vegas Strip and Area 51, six new weapons, two new vehicles, and a faster-paced Battle Royale mode called Rapid Royale.

The trailer's final moments offer a glimpse of the Dead Space crossover, featuring two soldiers clad in armor inspired by Isaac Clarke's iconic RIG suit, with a menacing Dead Space Marker looming in the background. This mode is confirmed to be part of a sinister, limited-time Halloween event.

Battlefield's Dead Space Homage Detailed

Datamined information suggests the limited-time Dead Space event will transport Battlefield 6 players to Area 51 for a PvE Rush-style mode. This mode, reminiscent of the Rush (or Gold Rush) mode present in many past Battlefield titles, typically involves an Attacker team attempting to destroy objectives defended by a Defender team. In the Dead Space iteration, players are expected to battle waves of "Marked Soldiers" while trying to destroy Marker Shrines. A special event weapon will reportedly be available as a Battle Pickup within this mode.

Further details from data mining indicate the inclusion of two RIG suit skins, directly inspired by Isaac Clarke's armor, and a trio of weapons drawing aesthetic and functional inspiration from Dead Space. This isn't the first time the Battlefield franchise has referenced Dead Space; previous installments like Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield Hardline have featured Easter eggs and game modes nodding to the sci-fi series. Notably, in 2024, EA assigned the Motive Studio team, responsible for the Dead Space remake, to assist with the development of the latest Battlefield title, strengthening the connection between the two franchises.

Battlefield 6 is currently available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S. Season 5 of Battlefield 6 is scheduled to begin on October 13.
