Deadlock Update Doubles Pre-Match Conversations and Adds New Heroes

Valve's hero-based MOBA, Deadlock, has received a substantial update that introduces new heroes and map elements, alongside a significant expansion of in-game dialogue. The update doubles the number of pre-match conversations between characters, a feature highlighted by the development team as a key addition.

The addition of a voice line viewer allows players to explore these conversations, which now number over 1500. This move aims to flesh out the game's universe and character relationships. Some notable interactions include those between Celeste and Drifter, the Doorman and Drifter, Rem and Calico, and Mina and Pocket. These dialogues offer glimpses into the characters' personalities and backstories.

The update also introduces five new heroes, further expanding the roster and potential for character interactions. The developers note that new dynamics are expected to emerge, such as between Seven, a survivor of capital punishment, and Baba, a witch, as well as potential interactions between Nurse Harrow and The Doorman, hinting at a possible connection between the latter and Lovecraftian themes.

Beyond the pre-match conversations, the update includes over 10,000 new non-ping voice lines, contributing to a richer player experience. The developers express anticipation for the game's future development as it approaches its final release, referred to as the "Cursed Apple."
