Hideo Kojima has described Death Stranding 2: On the Beach as potentially 'one of the best games ever made.' The game's director shared a personal anecdote from his time playing the game, detailing a particularly challenging and miserable scenario for protagonist Sam Porter Bridges.
In the described situation, Sam is tasked with fording a rough river during a sandstorm, burdened by approximately 150kg of cargo. Adding to the misery, lightning strikes the water around him, and he also has an urgent need to urinate. This combination of environmental hazards and personal discomfort encapsulates the demanding gameplay Kojima has become known for.
The game, which was officially revealed at The Game Awards 2022, is a sequel to the 2019 title Death Stranding. It sees the return of Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges and Léa Seydoux as Fragile, alongside new cast members like Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna. The narrative is set to explore new themes and continue the unique world-building established in the first game.
