Deicidium Returned: Ram V and Evan Cagle Reunite for New Graphic Novel

Ram V and Evan Cagle, the creative team behind DC's New Gods relaunch, are reuniting for a new graphic novel titled Deicidium Returned. The book, published by Image Comics, is slated for release on November 11 and is already being anticipated as one of the most promising graphic novels of 2026.

Deicidium Returned is written by Ram V, with art by Evan Cagle and Anand Radhakrishnan. The official summary describes a future where belief is a commodity, governed by corporations and engineered religions. This fragile balance is disrupted when ancient deities, manifesting within ordinary people, return and are deemed threats by the ruling powers. A clandestine organization, prepared for such an eventuality, unleashes twelve specially trained orphans to combat these awakened gods.

"A daring heist. A pair of thieves in slums around a holy city. A biker gang of graverobbers around a mausoleum town. A protest at the foot of a sacred mountain. This is how DEICIDIUM begins," V stated. "Separate threads, looking at the lives of ordinary, seemingly unconnected people in a world that is run by faith, worship and the commerce of belief. An explosive revelation is to follow. Something old was stolen. Something ancient is broken. Clever machiavellian fingers pulling at long-forgotten threads. What if these ordinary people with loves, lives and lingering regrets... what if these people were actually gods? Would we love them? Hate them? Hold them up or would we kill them?"

IGN has exclusively debuted the first 24 pages of Deicidium Returned, which are available to view in a slideshow gallery. The final order cutoff for the graphic novel is October 5, and copies can be preordered on Amazon.
