The highly anticipated fifth chapter of Deltarune is set to launch on June 24. This new chapter will be available as a free update for players who have already purchased the game. The release date and new footage were showcased during a Nintendo Direct presentation that coincided with Summer Game Fest.
While the announcement was made during a Nintendo event, it is expected that Deltarune Chapter 5 will be released on other platforms concurrently with the Nintendo release. Creator Toby Fox previously outlined his pricing model for the game, stating that players only need to buy it once, with subsequent chapters added as free updates. Fox explained that the initial purchase price of $24.99 reflects the content available at the time of purchase, rather than future promised content.
"You only have to buy the game once – upcoming Chapters will be added as free updates," Fox stated. "That's not factored into the cost, though. I only feel right charging for what there currently is, not what I say there will be. Therefore, this $24.99 to me represents the exact price of 4 chapters!"
Deltarune Chapter 5 will follow the release of Chapters 3 and 4, which were launched together in September 2023. The game's initial chapter was released in 2018.
