Diablo 4 may be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 next month, according to a new report from prominent leaker billbil-kun.
The insider claims the game is slated for a mid-September release, with potential launch dates falling on either the 15th or 18th of the month. This release would mark the action RPG's debut on a Nintendo platform, over three years after its initial launch on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Unlike traditional physical releases, the Switch 2 version is expected to be a "code-in-the-box" product. This means a physical package will contain a digital code for the game, redeemable on the Nintendo eShop, rather than a game cartridge. Such a model, similar to Grand Theft Auto 6's anticipated physical release, typically means the game cannot be resold by consumers.
The report also details pricing for the Switch 2 edition, with costs set at approximately £63, $70, or €70. It remains unconfirmed whether this price point will include any of Diablo 4's existing or upcoming expansions, such as the Vessel of Hatred or Lord of Hated.
Blizzard has not officially commented on the possibility of Diablo 4, or its predecessor Diablo 2: Resurrected, coming to the Switch 2. However, this is not the first indication of a potential port. Last year, a different leaker suggested Diablo 4 was among several Microsoft-owned titles being prepared for the Switch 2. The game also made appearances on the Indonesian and Taiwanese rating boards' databases earlier this year.
Given the alleged September release window, an official announcement could be imminent. Gamescom, scheduled to begin later this month, is a likely venue, as Blizzard has a history of utilizing the event for major reveals. Diablo 3's Switch port, for instance, was announced shortly before Gamescom in the year it launched, following similar leaks. Alternatively, Blizzard could opt for a surprise announcement at BlizzCon, which takes place on September 12-13, aligning with the reported release timeframe.
