Diablo 4's next season, titled 'Season of Death Awakening,' is set to launch on June 30, bringing a host of new content and features. Blizzard detailed the upcoming season in a recent livestream, highlighting its new gameplay mechanics, activities, and a special crossover event.
A key addition to Season of Death Awakening is the 'Mythic Uniques 3.0' system, which allows players to transform any Unique item into a Mythic, the highest quality tier of item available. This feature, along with the rest of the season's content, will be accessible to all players upon launch.
The season will also introduce a new season journey, featuring 120 objectives spread across nine ranks. Players can engage with the new 'Ruptures' mini-activity, which will appear globally as portals spewing enemies. Additionally, a new questline will task players with uncovering the origins of a Death Cult, and a new 'Solo Self Found Mode' will prevent players from partying up or trading.
Patch 3.1.0, which accompanies the season's launch, will be available for pre-download starting June 25 across Battle.net, PlayStation, and Xbox. Notably, the Steam version will not support pre-downloading.
To celebrate the season's arrival, Blizzard is offering a free trial for the Warlock class, one of the two new classes introduced in the Lord of Hatred expansion. This trial will run for one week, from June 30 to July 7, allowing players who do not own the expansion to experience the Warlock class up to level 30. Progress made during the trial will carry over if players decide to purchase the expansion later. The Warlock is described as a hybrid Necromancer-Sorcerer that can summon demons and fuse their powers into attacks.
Furthermore, Diablo 4 is collaborating with Overwatch. This event will offer a free 'Reliquary' (battle pass) containing several cosmetic items, including Diablo 4's first earnable dye. Players can acquire the 'Eye of the Overwatch' currency by defeating Elite and Champion monsters, which can then be used to unlock these cosmetics. Character skins inspired by Overwatch heroes will be available exclusively in the in-game store.
