Blizzard has announced that Diablo 4's next seasonal update, titled Season of Hell's Legacy, will launch on September 15. This season marks the franchise's 30th anniversary and coincides with the game's debut on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Season of Hell's Legacy is described as a tribute to three decades of Diablo. The narrative centers on the return of Deckard Cain's spirit, who warns players that echoes of the three original Prime Evils—Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto—have resurfaced. Each of these entities has taken refuge in iconic locations from earlier Diablo titles: Tristram Cathedral, Arreat Summit, and the Durance of Hate, respectively. Defeating one of these Prime Evil echoes will grant players a Soul Splinter, offering a temporary power boost from that demon but also increasing vulnerability to its specific attacks.

The update will also introduce nine new Legacy Uniques to the game permanently, including the return of the Stone of Jordan. Additionally, players can expect to encounter Waking Nightmares, a new series of enemy encounters designed to recreate specific moments from Diablo's past.

The new content is scheduled to go live on September 15 at 5:30 PM UK time.

On the same day, Diablo 4 will become available on the Nintendo Switch 2. The launch package, known as the Age of Hatred Collection, will include the base game along with the Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred expansions. This version will support cross-play and cross-progression across other platforms.

The Amazon class is also set to join Diablo 4 in the first half of 2027. She will be equipped with a bow and javelin and will feature four distinct builds: Champion, Skirmisher, Ranger, and Commander.

These announcements were among several major reveals during the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony, which also included information on Diablo 5, World of Warcraft: Forever, and a new open-world StarCraft shooter.
