Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced Diablo 5, confirming that the next entry in the storied dungeon-crawler franchise will launch in spring 2029. The announcement came during BlizzCon 2026, where game director Joe Shely detailed a significantly altered Sanctuary.

"The heroes are gone, Sanctuary has fallen, and Diablo has won," Shely stated during the "Forging the Next Era" panel. "For the first time, you won't be fighting to stop Diablo from taking Sanctuary. You'll enter a world where he already has. There are no towns, no safe places waiting to protect you."

The development team plans to offer a deeper look into the game's evolution, including updates on how the world, classes, and narrative are being shaped for this new era. The panel promised insights into the mechanics and story of Diablo 5, presenting a vision of Sanctuary that has succumbed to the Prime Evil's influence.

The panel, titled "Forging the Next Era," provided an in-depth look at Blizzard's vision for the future of the Diablo series, with specific details on the direction the gameplay and world-building will take. Further information is expected as the development progresses towards the spring 2029 release window. PC Macintosh PlayStation
