Diablo: Unbound Board Game Announced for 1-4 Players

Glass Cannon Unplugged, known for its tabletop adaptations of titles like Don’t Starve, Dying Light, and Apex Legends, has announced Diablo: Unbound. This new cooperative dungeon battler is designed for one to four players and will feature elements from the Diablo franchise, including familiar classes, iconic locations, and formidable beasts. The studio plans to launch a campaign for the game on Gamefound in the first quarter of 2027.

Diablo: Unbound will allow players to choose their class, dungeon, enemies, and boss, engaging in cooperative gameplay to fight hordes, acquire loot, and improve their characters. The game is set to include iconic classes such as the Rogue and Barbarian. According to Glass Cannon Unplugged, following the Gamefound campaign will grant access to a free, exclusive Treasure Goblin Expansion.

While specific details are still emerging, initial reveals from the game's trailer showcase impressive miniatures, player boards, and elements of the character progression systems. The game appears to utilize a hex grid for movement and combat. Player abilities and actions are reportedly tied to a deck of cards, reminiscent of deck-building mechanics seen in other tabletop games. Player boards are designed to accommodate various gear slots, including for weapons, armor, gems, and accessories like helms, rings, and necklaces. Skill cards are also expected to feature double-sided designs, with base and upgraded versions, suggesting a card-sleeving requirement for players.

Fans of boss battlers and dungeon crawling board games will find elements to appreciate in Diablo: Unbound. An early build of the game will be available for attendees of the Spiel Essen convention in Germany at the Glass Cannon Unplugged booth in Hall I.
