Blizzard has officially announced Diablo V, with a planned release in Spring 2029. The revelation occurred during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon.

Diablo V is set 50 years after the events of Diablo IV. In a significant departure from the series' established narrative, the game will find players in a Sanctuary that has already fallen to the Lord of Terror. Instead of preventing an apocalypse, the premise centers on confronting a world where Diablo has emerged victorious.

A teaser trailer for Diablo V was also shown during the announcement.
