The indie horror game Athanasia, which places players in a research facility overrun by dinosaurs, is scheduled to launch in Steam Early Access on October 19.

Set in a South American research facility, Athanasia's narrative involves dinosaurs inexplicably transported through time to the present day. While its visual style draws comparisons to Capcom's defunct Dino Crisis series, the gameplay mechanics diverge significantly. Drawing inspiration from System Shock, the first-person title incorporates immersive sim elements, allowing players to interact with and manipulate the environment to overcome challenges. The game's developers, Momentum Games, are collaborating with publisher Black Lantern Collective for this horror-focused release.

Beyond the reptilian threats, Athanasia also hints at a more sinister enemy lurking within the facility, currently undisclosed and absent from the game's promotional materials.
