Dishonored, a first-person action game, tasked players with controlling assassin Corvo Attano, who is framed for the murder of the empress he was assigned to protect. The title was designed as a modern interpretation of classic immersive simulators, offering players a blend of weaponry and supernatural abilities to approach its challenges through various methods and pathways. Its distinctive "whalepunk" art style also set it apart from other games released at the time.
The game garnered positive reception from both players and critics upon its debut. Dishonored's success paved the way for subsequent immersive sim titles from Arkane, including Dishonored 2 in 2016, Prey in 2019, and Deathloop in 2021.
