Disney Lorcana TCG Details Future Sets, Collector Boosters, and Digital Version

Since its 2023 debut, the Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game has sold over 2.8 billion cards and fostered a dedicated player base. Ravensburger co-founder Ryan Miller shared insights into the game's future during a panel at D23, coinciding with the launch of the Hyperia City set.

Hyperia City Expansion

The Hyperia City set, now available, introduces characters from the film Coco and a new Ink Drops energy source. The urban setting expands the game's lore, with locations like Land of the Dead – Marigold Bridge and Khan Industries – Greenway Landmark reflecting distinct neighborhoods. New character cards include Minnie Mouse - Urban Visionary and Mickey Mouse - Best in Town, with Mickey's card a tribute to his first words, "Hot Dog!" Early impressions of the set noted its familiar characters, inclusion of Pixar's Coco, and the game-changing Ink Drops mechanic, which adds another layer to resource management.

Into the Inkdark and Collector Boosters

Looking ahead to 2027, the Into the Inkdark set will feature villains such as Hades. A significant addition with this set will be Collector Boosters, designed for collectors with 12 premium foil cards per pack, each featuring a special foil treatment. This set also introduces a new rarity called Illustrious, with Maleficent - Biding Her Time being one of only six such cards per set, and only 23 of each printed—a number chosen to honor The Walt Disney Company's founding year of 1923. Miller emphasized that Collector Boosters will not replace regular boosters and are intended to highlight the game's numerous contributing artists.

Cosmic Quest and Beauty and the Beast Sets

The game will venture into space with the Cosmic Quest set in 2027, featuring characters like Ariel and Flounder, and notably introducing Wall-E and EVE to Lorcana for the first time. Miller described this expansion as an evolution of exploring new ideas, with narrative and game design working symbiotically to integrate gameplay mechanics with new settings.

In October 2026, the Beauty and the Beast Curator's Collection set will be released, celebrating the film's 30th anniversary. This collection draws inspiration from the movie's stained-glass motif, offering visually striking cards. Miller described this set as a "love letter" to fans and the film, highlighting the team's attention to detail.

New Releases and Digital Aspiration

A Disney Lorcana Visual Guide, compiling art from various sets, is scheduled for February 1, 2027. The game will also return to EPCOT's International Festival of the Arts, featuring the first-ever Figment card. This follows the success of the previous festival's collection quest, which saw over 170,000 participants.

Ravensburger is developing a digital version of Disney Lorcana TCG, aiming to provide players with flexibility in how and where they play. Miller sees this as a valuable tool for existing players with lifestyle changes and for new players to learn the game in a low-pressure environment, building confidence before participating in tabletop play. Additionally, in 2027, Disney Cruise Line guests will experience Collection Quests and other features as part of an expansion.

D23 Highlights and Community Impact

Disney Lorcana TCG's presence at D23 included photo opportunities, a collection quest, and exclusive items. The 2026 D23 Collection featured characters from past quests and Héctor Rivera from the upcoming Hyperia set. Other notable items included a Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Wizard Premium Playmat, the Quest of Wonders: An Illumineers Lorebook, and the Disney Lorcana TCG: Collection Starter Set - Rapunzel Edition.

Miller reflected on the game's impact beyond simple gameplay, sharing an anecdote about a child with special needs who found confidence and community through learning to play Lorcana. He emphasized the team's commitment to growing the game and fostering positive experiences, stating, "What we're doing here is special, and we're not here to squeeze the juice out of the grapes. We're here because we want to grow the vines."
