As Marvel Studios gears up for the premiere of its new series VisionQuest, Disney is offering fans a chance to revisit the beginning of its Disney+ original programming. The first three episodes of the 2021 series WandaVision have been made available for free on Marvel's official YouTube channel.
WandaVision marked the MCU's first foray into streaming original series, exploring Wanda Maximoff's (Elizabeth Olsen) life in the wake of Avengers: Endgame. The show's narrative centers on Wanda and Vision (Paul Bettany), who appear to be living a seemingly idyllic suburban life. However, the series delves into Wanda's grief and reality-bending powers, utilizing sitcom formats from different decades to tell its story. The mysterious circumstances surrounding Vision's apparent return from death in Avengers: Infinity War are central to the plot.
This move by Disney and Marvel serves as a primer for fans ahead of VisionQuest, which is set to premiere on Disney+ on October 14. The new series will follow the resurrected Vision as he navigates his identity, reportedly alongside other AI characters such as Ultron and Friday, who will be portrayed by actors with human appearances. Showrunner Terry Matalas stated this creative choice was intended to allow for more expressive performances, drawing inspiration from interactions seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
It remains unclear if the free episodes on YouTube will be a permanent offering or a limited-time promotion leading up to VisionQuest's launch. For those wishing to watch the entire WandaVision season, all nine episodes are currently available on Disney+.
