Dispatch developer AdHoc Studio is commemorating the game's first anniversary with new features for owners of the deluxe edition. The update, which is already available, introduces both a cast and crew commentary mode and a storyboard mode for all episodes of the game.
The commentary mode offers over 16 hours of audio across the game's episodes, with players able to choose between two tracks: Cast or Crew. Different choices made during gameplay can unlock unique commentary, providing fresh insights with each playthrough. The commentary features voices from the game's cast, including Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, and Travis Willingham, alongside the game's writers, directors, and designers.
Storyboard mode offers a unique look at the game's development by allowing players to experience every episode as it was originally drawn. This mode displays the game's initial storyboards and draft renderings, illustrating how scenes and characters were conceptualized before animation began. This feature provides a rare glimpse into the game development process, particularly suited to Dispatch's cutscene-heavy design.
Dispatch, created by a team co-founded by former developers from The Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us, offers a narrative adventure with timed dialogue choices and quick-time events. Its superhero comedy premise has been compared to The Boys and Invincible, though it is described as more laidback and banter-driven.
