Dispatch, the superhero-themed workplace comedy released last year, is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a significant content update from developer AdHoc. The game, which originally launched episodically with its first batch of episodes on October 22, garnered praise for its strong performances, particularly from a cast including Aaron Paul, and for filling a void left by Telltale Games.
New Playable Modes Arrive
The anniversary update introduces Storyboard Mode, allowing players to experience the game using the original animatics—early placeholder sketches used by artists to synchronize visuals with voice-over. This offers a behind-the-scenes look at the game's development. Complementing this, DVD-style commentary tracks have been recorded by the cast and crew. These tracks, featuring over 16 hours of content, include insights from development team members such as art director Derek Stratton and creative directors Dennis Lenart and Nick Herman, as well as actors like Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, and Erin Yvette. Both Storyboard and Commentary modes are available today as part of the game's deluxe edition, which can be upgraded to for $10.99.
Mobile Version and Free Trial Announced
For those yet to play Dispatch, a mobile version is set to launch on December 9 for iOS and Android devices. This iteration has been rebuilt to support touch controls and vertical gameplay. AdHoc is also offering a free trial, including the first four episodes, with the full game available for $19.99.
Merchandise and Live Event
Further celebrating the anniversary, AdHoc has announced new merchandise. This includes Dispatch: Design Works, a book co-created with publisher Lost in Cult, serving as both an art book and a making-of guide. Additionally, a live soundtrack concert will take place in Los Angeles at Avalon Hollywood on December 3, featuring artists Thot Squad, Bershy, Primer, Caroline Kingsbury, Fartbarf, and Dispatch composer Andrew Arcadi with the SDN Company Band. The event will not be livestreamed, and priority ticket purchases will be given to those who signed up for updates on adhocstudio.com.
Dispatch was well-received by critics, with Game Informer's review calling it "one of the most compelling interactive dramas in years, an adult animated superhero story with the emotional punch of prestige television and a script that truly shines."
