Marvel Studios has unveiled a new trailer for its upcoming blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday, spotlighting Doctor Doom's terrifying capabilities and his deployment of a Sentinel army. The footage paints a grim picture for the assembled heroes, with a visibly distressed Sue Storm expressing concern over Victor Von Doom's current state. The trailer hints at a vengeful motive for Doom, potentially fueled by the loss of his family, as he confronts the Avengers with immense power.

Scenes depict a ravaged cityscape and disheartened heroes, including Magneto, Gambit, and Steve Rogers, all reflecting the gravity of the situation. Reed Richards questions Doom about the destruction, to which Doom responds, "All of you have lived stolen lives. But now you must give them back." His immense power is further demonstrated as he easily repels Thor.

The trailer also featured brief appearances by Hugh Jackman, who joked about joining the cast, and revealed initial looks at Nightcrawler and Mystique's costumes. A new poster prominently displays Doctor Doom.

Chris Evans, reprising his role as Steve Rogers, has previously described Avengers: Doomsday as a "brutal" experience for his character. Rogers' return to the MCU after a seven-year absence reunites him with the Russo brothers, his directors for several previous Captain America and Avengers films. Evans noted that the directors "love beating up Steve Rogers" and find heroism in his resilience, promising a "really, really good examination into his nature and his values."

Speculation suggests the film's dark turn for Steve Rogers may involve his child, especially given Doom's previous interest in children, as seen in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The trailer's focus on children and Rogers' potential dual appearances have fueled fan theories about the fate of his family and his own altered state.

Despite the challenging narrative for his character, Evans agreed to return after "at least a dozen pitches" for other MCU projects. Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on December 18.
