Four years after their television departure, the Thirteenth Doctor, portrayed by Jodie Whittaker, and her companion Yasmin Khan, played by Mandip Gill, are set to reunite for a new adventure in Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures: The Greatest Train Robbery. This audio drama from Big Finish Productions continues the narrative for the popular pairing, often referred to by fans as Thasmin.
The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures series features original television cast members reprising their roles in audio dramas. Whittaker and Gill previously starred together in the debut audio adventure, "Vampire Weekend," released in July 2025. Big Finish's audio format often allows for expanded exploration of character relationships that may not have been fully realized on screen.
The upcoming episode, "The Greatest Train Robbery," is written by Karissa Hamilton-Bannis and draws inspiration from Ursula Le Guin's short story "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas." The 60-minute story will follow the Doctor and Yaz as they board a space train bound for the Maelin system, only to discover it has been hijacked by rebels. The plot will present a dilemma for the pair, as they must determine whether to rescue the rebels or the train's Sentinel guards.
Hamilton-Bannis expressed her enthusiasm for developing the relationship between the two characters, stating her gratitude to Big Finish for the opportunity to further explore their partnership. This marks the first time the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz will face a mystery aboard a train, a scenario previously explored by the Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald in the television episode "Mummy on the Orient Express."
Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures: The Greatest Train Robbery is scheduled for release this September. It is currently available for pre-order as a digital download for £9.99, with a limited-edition physical and digital copy priced at £13.99.
