Developer S-Game has enlisted martial arts superstar Donnie Yen as a co-producer for its upcoming action RPG, Phantom Blade Zero. Yen's involvement aims to elevate the game's "kungfupunk" vision by infusing its combat with authentic intensity, from kicks and punches to swordplay.

During a visit to S-Game's Shanghai studio, insights were gained into the studio's pioneering approach to motion capture for martial arts. Yen and creative director Soulframe Liang were present, with Yen's team demonstrating a series of elaborate wirework stunts and martial arts sequences. One notable display involved a performer juggling a baby on a sword blade before launching it skyward, illustrating the team's creative and daring execution.

This collaboration extends beyond performance; Yen is helping to shape a new methodology for capturing in-game action. An exclusive behind-the-scenes look at this process has been made available, highlighting the development of the martial arts-inspired epic. Phantom Blade Zero is slated for release in 2025.
