A new installment of the Dragon Ball Super anime, titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, is set to premiere on October 11 in Japan, with international audiences able to stream new episodes on Crunchyroll starting the same day. This move grants Crunchyroll exclusive access to subtitled episodes in various regions, including the United States, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and Europe, nearly a week before the series arrives on Netflix.
Netflix is scheduled to begin streaming the premiere episode of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus on October 17. Crunchyroll's current announcement pertains only to subtitled versions, with no information provided regarding a potential English dub. Based on the rollout of the previous anime, Dragon Ball Daima, which saw subtitled episodes begin in October 2024 and English-dubbed episodes in January 2025, fans might expect dubbed episodes of Beerus to arrive in early 2025.
A Familiar Storyline
Unlike Dragon Ball Daima, which presented an entirely new narrative, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will revisit established elements of the franchise. The introduction of the God of Destruction Beerus, the angel Whis, and Goku's Super Saiyan God transformation first occurred in the 2013 film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. This storyline has since been adapted in both the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga, making this the fourth iteration fans will experience.
The Beerus anime will also incorporate Frieza's return, a plotline initially featured in the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' movie and later adapted into the Super anime and manga. While details about Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol were announced earlier this year alongside Beerus, it does not yet have a specified release window.
