A recently released trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 has offered a detailed look at the game's character creation suite and combat abilities, set to launch in 2027. Developed by Dimps, the studio behind the previous two entries, the action RPG is set in a far future timeline, specifically Age 1000, approximately 150 years after the original Xenoverse. This era allows for the integration of legendary characters and their signature moves from across the Dragon Ball saga.
The trailer demonstrates how players can harness classic anime attacks, with the player character charging up iconic techniques like Vegeta's kicks and Hit's rapid-fire punches. The game will feature six distinct Avatar races, including a new Android race, offering a wide array of customization. Players can tailor their combat style using elements such as Fighting Styles, Soul Assist, Awoken Skills, and Abilities. With over 130 characters, both playable and non-playable, available to learn from, the game aims to provide deep personalization for players to construct their ideal fighter.
The footage also highlights the player character shifting between various forms, including human and alien appearances, while preparing a Kamehameha attack. This level of visual transformation underscores the game's commitment to capturing the dynamic style of the Dragon Ball series.
However, a point of contention among fans is the newly implemented limitation on Super Saiyan transformations. Unlike in previous Xenoverse titles, where the transformation could be maintained for the entire mission, Xenoverse 3 will reportedly restrict the duration of this powerful state, a change that is expected to impact gameplay significantly upon release.
