Capcom has revealed plans for Dragon's Dogma 2, including a new expansion titled Dark Arisen and two major updates aimed at improving the player experience. The Dark Arisen expansion will introduce a chilly new mountainous region known as the Norgan region, featuring flaming castles, emaciated dragons, and ice giants.
This expansion is scheduled to launch on October 9th. It will also add 12 new dungeon challenges scattered throughout the existing world and new customization options for players' Arisen and Pawns, including hairstyles and tattoos. The expansion was detailed alongside the announcement of two free updates designed to address player concerns. The first update, available immediately, focuses on quality-of-life improvements such as the addition of an Eternal Ferrystone, a presumably non-consumable item for fast travel, and more Portcrystals, a response to earlier criticisms regarding the scarcity of fast travel options.
The second update, expected in August, will implement additional save slots, alongside improvements to framerate and overall performance, addressing another point of contention from the game's launch. Coinciding with these announcements, the base game of Dragon's Dogma 2 will receive a permanent discount starting June 24th.
The original Dragon's Dogma featured a Dark Arisen edition that included a challenging multi-floor endgame dungeon. The upcoming expansion for Dragon's Dogma 2 offers a contrast to the base game's often desert-heavy environments, promising a trip to frigid uplands. This move into a new, icy locale echoes the grand action RPG adventure described previously, where player-made travel plans could be disrupted by in-game events.
