Afterburner Studios, the team behind the 2021 roguelike Dreamscaper, has revealed its next project: Elta: Defy All Gods. This new sci-fi action-platformer, published by Focus Entertainment, was unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live and is slated for release in early 2027.
The game centers on Victis, a warrior monk equipped with advanced armor, who must team up with a small dragon named Elta to rescue their civilization. The narrative begins with Victis seeking their lost god, Elta, who is depicted as a diminished dragon. Players will guide Victis through a world that blends intricate martial arts combat with magical abilities, utilizing Elta's powers, such as fireballs, to aid in battle.
Gameplay footage showcased Victis demonstrating considerable agility, employing wall-running, backflipping, and other parkour techniques to navigate challenging environments. The character also utilizes a wrist-mounted grapple for crossing large gaps and riding on rails. As is common in the Metroidvania genre, progression in Elta: Defy All Gods will involve acquiring new combat and traversal abilities that unlock access to previously unreachable areas and secrets. The game also features a distinctive art style described as resembling a living oil painting.
Gamers will have an opportunity to experience Elta: Defy All Gods before its full launch through a public demo scheduled for October 1. The full game is set to release in early 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
