Dune: Awakening is set to receive its "Blood and Ice" expansion on December 13th. This free update introduces a new survival map called the Polar Sink, which challenges players with extreme cold instead of desert heat.
The Polar Sink features two biomes: the tundra and the ice cap. Players will begin in the tundra, where they must contend with hostile families while aiming to reach the ice cap. There, they can gather valuable ice to cool base equipment and accelerate production. The expansion is expected to offer approximately 35 hours of new progression, including new vehicle modules, augments, and specialization traits. Funcom also plans future updates to the Polar Sink.
In addition to the expansion, an offline mode will be implemented this month, allowing players to experience Dune: Awakening without an internet connection. This feature is a significant addition for game preservation. Character copying from multiplayer servers to single-player is slated for January, coinciding with the rollout of full cross-play.
The update also introduces a new cosmetic store for optional items such as outfits, vehicle variants, and base customization options.
