Dungeon Crawler Carl Comic Series Announced by Vault Comics

Matt Dinniman's expansive LitRPG series, Dungeon Crawler Carl, is continuing its multimedia expansion with an upcoming comic book series from Vault Comics. The new comic will serialize the existing webtoon adaptation of the popular novels, featuring writer Tevagah and artwork by Laurel Pursuit Studios. Kuzomari will also contribute to adapting the art for the comic book format, with Nathan Gooden providing the main cover art and several variant covers.

The series follows Coast Guard veteran Carl and his ex-girlfriend's cat, Princess Donut, as they navigate a dangerous, trap-filled fantasy dungeon that doubles as a reality television show set.

Dinniman expressed enthusiasm for the new venture, stating, "Entering the comic space is nothing short of amazing. The fact that I get to work with some of the greatest creators and artists working today feels like a dream." The initial issue is planned as a double-sized, 48-page release and is scheduled for publication in January 2027.

This comic adaptation is one of several projects expanding the Dungeon Crawler Carl universe. A television adaptation is also in development, with Universal Global Television scripting series chief Kelsey Balance indicating that filming could commence as early as next year. Additionally, the series has a tabletop role-playing game.

Beyond these adaptations, Dinniman is actively writing the ninth book in the novel series, tentatively titled The Beautiful Place. While a release date has not been set, the author has shared early chapters and the prologue. Given the typical release schedule for the series, the ninth book might arrive in late 2027, potentially beginning the concluding arc that is expected to wrap up with the tenth book.
