Wizards of the Coast has officially announced that Dungeons & Dragons will receive an official Star Wars expansion, slated for release in 2027. This new addition will be part of the company's Universes Beyond label, which brings popular intellectual properties into the D&D 5th Edition ruleset.
The Star Wars expansion is scheduled to arrive in the latter half of 2027 as part of the "Season of Rebellion." This announcement follows the recent reveal of an upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, further demonstrating the Universes Beyond initiative's broad scope.
While specific details about the Star Wars D&D content are currently scarce, the announcement was made during the Gen Con 2026 reveal panel, reportedly with Darth Vader appearing on stage. Wizards of the Coast has emphasized that Universes Beyond projects are supplementary to D&D's core offerings and do not detract from the development of original D&D settings. The company has stated that additional staff have been brought on to support these cross-property ventures, ensuring that the core D&D roadmap remains robust.
This move into the Star Wars universe is part of a busy product calendar for the D&D brand. The current year features the "Season of Magic," including the "Arcana Unleashed" expansion with new subclasses, backgrounds, feats, spells, and creatures, as well as the "Deadfall" campaign. The 2027 lineup begins with the "Season of Survival," which will see the return of the "Dark Sun" setting. This will be followed by the "Season of Sword & Sorcery," featuring a new "Crown of the Witch Queen" expansion for the "Greyhawk" setting, before concluding with the "Season of Rebellion" and its Star Wars content.
