Wizards of the Coast is releasing a new PC title, Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern, which deviates from the traditional role-playing experience by allowing players to manage their own tavern.

Instead of controlling adventurers on quests, players will step into the shoes of an innkeeper, a role typically filled by non-player characters within the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The gameplay loop involves building a tavern from the ground up, hiring staff such as servers and bartenders, and managing shifts to cater to the various adventurers who frequent the establishment.

Players will be able to cook food and brew drinks, earning money during night shifts. This income can then be used to acquire resources during the day, a period that also allows for exploration of areas outside the tavern. If specific resources cannot be obtained directly, players can enlist adventurers to undertake quests on their behalf to retrieve necessary items or overcome other challenges.

Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern is slated for a PC release in 2027.
