Wizards of the Coast is set to release a new monster compendium for Dungeons & Dragons titled Fiends & Foes, offering a fresh perspective on the game's most notorious adversaries. The book delves into the lore and origins of iconic villains, providing DMs with new material for their campaigns.

Dungeons & Dragons: Fiends & Foes, penned by Erin M. Evans, centers on Farideh, a tiefling protagonist from the Brimstone Angels novel series. Her journey involves encounters with prominent figures such as the drow goddess Lolth, the beholder Xanathar, and the archmage Halaster Blackcloak. A significant portion of the book features commentary on these villains from Glaysa, Princess of the Nine Hells, delivered through a mix of banter, gossip, and arguments.

The compendium will explore the backgrounds of legendary evil gods and detail the genesis of the lich Acererak, infamous for masterminding the lethally challenging Tomb of Horrors dungeon and playing a role in Ernest Cline's novel Ready Player One. The book also touches upon the origins of Tiamat, the five-headed dragon goddess.
