Dynasty Warriors Producer Prefers New Games Over Remasters

Dynasty Warriors producer Tomohiko Sho has expressed a preference for creating new games over remastering existing titles. While not ruling out future remasters entirely, Sho indicated that his personal inclination is to focus on original projects or sequels.

In a recent interview, Sho was asked about the possibility of further remasters following the launch of Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered. He stated that while it's not impossible that titles not currently available on platforms like Steam could be remastered, he personally does not wish to undertake such projects. Sho explained that remasters often require near-complete overhauls, and he has occasionally questioned the endeavor of remaking his own past work.

At his current age, Sho mentioned that he often considers the limited number of games he can create before retirement. This perspective leads him to favor the development of new games or sequels over revisiting and updating older titles. However, he acknowledged an obligation to fans who desire more remasters and suggested that he might delegate such tasks to other team members while he focuses on new developments.

Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered, which updates the PlayStation 2 classic using Unreal Engine 5 to celebrate the franchise's 25th anniversary, is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The title has received a 'Very Positive' reception on Steam according to current player reviews.
