Electronic Arts has officially announced the return of its Fight Night boxing game series, ending a 15-year absence for the franchise. The news was shared via EA Sports' official Twitter account with a brief statement: "To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back." The last installment, Fight Night Champion, was released in 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The Fight Night series originally debuted in 2004 with Fight Night 2004, followed by sequels in 2005, 2006, and 2009. EA also developed the earlier Knockout Kings franchise, which ran from 1998 to 2002.
Details regarding a potential release date, platforms, or new features for the upcoming Fight Night title remain scarce. EA's UFC series, another combat sports franchise, recently saw its latest entry, UFC 6, released in June. This revival of Fight Night follows EA's acquisition by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
