Rumors of an unannounced Elder Scrolls game being in development at Bethesda have been officially debunked. Enthusiasts misinterpreted a LinkedIn post from Griffin DeClaire, a former associate game designer at Bethesda who was among those affected by recent Microsoft layoffs. DeClaire's bio stated he had been working on "an unreleased Elder Scrolls title," leading to speculation that a new game beyond The Elder Scrolls VI was underway.

However, DeClaire has since clarified to FRVR that his post specifically referred to The Elder Scrolls VI. "To clarify, the posting is about TESVI," DeClaire stated. "I was working directly on TESVI everyday in-engine before being laid off. Quite tragic, I really loved the work and was looking forward to seeing the fan reaction."

Little is known about The Elder Scrolls VI, despite its announcement eight years ago. Developers at Bethesda have previously shared that they "love how it looks" and "are playing it every day," sentiments typical of games in active development. Bethesda Game Studios is currently working on multiple projects, including Fallout 5, which is in pre-production, while Fallout 76 remains in ongoing development. Additionally, remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are being developed in partnership with Bethesda.
