Filming for the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series is underway in New York, and set photos have revealed the return of Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios. The character's reappearance has sparked discussion among fans, many of whom recall her divisive role in the original Netflix Daredevil series.
Recent set leaks and photos published by Getty Images and celebrity photographer José Pérez confirm Yung's involvement, marking her first on-screen appearance as the character in nearly a decade. This follows earlier leaks that suggested the return of Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Danny Rand, other key figures from the Netflix era.
Speculation about Elektra's return had been building in recent months, fueled by Yung herself posting videos of her training, which fans interpreted as preparation for the role. While many fans express excitement, anticipating a packed season that could even see Elektra take on the Daredevil mantle as depicted in Chip Zdarsky's comic run, others have voiced frustration.
Critics of Elektra's characterization in the original Netflix series cite her role as a temptation for Matt Murdock, drawing him away from his focus on helping others and his relationship with Karen Page. "Elektra was legitimately THE WORST character in the entire OG show," one user commented on a Reddit thread discussing the leaks. "She was VERY ANNOYING, sometimes even to the point I wanted to turn off the show when she appeared on screen."
Another user agreed, stating, "Without the Punisher plotline Season 2 of the Netflix show is legitimately awful due to Elektra and The Hand." The Hand, a ninja clan central to Elektra's original storyline, is also slated to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Elektra's last appearance was in the 2016 miniseries The Defenders, where she was presumed dead after a storyline that saw her evolve from a complicated ally to a significant antagonist. Her return in Daredevil: Born Again is expected next spring, with the series set to pick up with Matt Murdock in jail and Wilson Fisk in exile.
