The Epic Games Store is currently offering two PC games for free: the 25th Anniversary Remaster of the influential immersive sim System Shock 2 and the visual novel Buried Stars. These titles are available at no cost for a limited time.
System Shock 2, originally released in 1999, combines elements of first-person shooters, survival horror, and role-playing games. Developed in part by Irrational Games, it laid groundwork for titles like BioShock. The anniversary edition includes visual upgrades, mod support, and cross-play co-op.
Buried Stars is a narrative-driven title set after a reality show studio collapses during a live broadcast, trapping contestants and crew. Players must solve a murder mystery while attempting to escape the wreckage and communicate with the outside world. The game features branching paths and multiple endings, encouraging replayability.
To claim these free games, players need to log in to their Epic Games Store account. The promotion is valid until Thursday, October 8, at 11 a.m. EDT.
