The Epic Games Store is currently offering two free PC games to users: the critically acclaimed roguelikes 'Sol Cesto' and 'OTXO'. These titles are available at no cost for a limited time.
'Sol Cesto', which fully released in April 2026 after its early access launch in May of the previous year, has been recognized as one of the year's best roguelikes. The game is set in a world that has lost its sun, tasking players with descending into a dungeon to find it. Gameplay unfolds on a 4x4 grid, requiring players to navigate encounters with enemies and discover vital items through a blend of chance and strategy. Giovanni Colantonio of Polygon described 'Sol Cesto' as a "dark horse GOTY contender," noting its unique yet familiar gameplay and aesthetic. The game holds a "Very Positive" rating on Steam, supported by over 2,100 player reviews.
Joining 'Sol Cesto' as this week's free offering is 'OTXO', a top-down shooter roguelike. Players assume the role of an amnesiac searching a mansion for a lost love. 'OTXO' features a striking black and white visual style, with the only color present being the red of enemies' blood, emphasizing its brutal combat. The game boasts a wide arsenal of weapons, more than 100 unlockable abilities, and a slow-motion mechanic to aid players. Like 'Sol Cesto', 'OTXO' has received positive player feedback, accumulating over 1,800 "Very Positive" reviews on Steam.
To claim these free games, users need to log in to their Epic Games Store accounts. The promotion is available until Thursday, August 6, at 11 a.m. EDT.
