Escape From Playtime's Open Beta is Live, Introducing a New Toy Menace

Mob Entertainment has launched an open beta for its multiplayer horror game, Escape from Playtime, allowing players to experience the latest iteration of the Playtime Co. factory firsthand. The beta is available on Steam and will run through Sunday, October 4. Players can team up in groups of up to eight, though the developer recommends at least four players for the best experience.

Escape from Playtime shifts the perspective from the previous single-player titles. Players now take on the role of the factory's toys—such as a plush bunny, cartoony cat, or fluffy unicorn—tasked with collecting supplies and completing objectives to escape the facility. Success hinges on cooperation, as players must work together to gather resources and survive the factory's dangers.

These dangers include a variety of monstrous toys. Toy robots pose a threat by speeding towards players and exploding on contact, but can be neutralized if another player strikes them from behind with a thrown object. A Cat Bee, a feline creature dressed as a bee, will latch onto players and poison them, requiring intervention from a teammate to remove it by throwing an object at the attacker.

The beta introduces a new antagonist named Miss Delight. Her presence is signaled by the echoing click of high heels. Like the infamous Huggy Wuggy, Miss Delight is a towering figure that can instantly kill players who are caught. However, she can be temporarily stopped by shining a flashlight directly at her face. Despite this vulnerability, her unnerving stillness and intense stare are presented as particularly frightening, creating a unique brand of terror compared to pursuit-based monsters.

Mob Entertainment emphasizes that this open beta serves as a playtest, seeking player feedback to refine the game before its full launch. The build contains work-in-progress elements, experimental features, and ongoing balance adjustments. Feedback gathered during this period will be crucial for developing the final release and future updates. A survey will be available after playing for those who wish to provide input.

The full details regarding the beta can be found on the game's Steam news page.
