Fancy Games' co-op horror title, Escape the Backrooms, is set to receive a significant content update this December. Titled the "After Party," the update will introduce three new levels to the game, continuing its theme of celebratory content.
Alongside the new levels, the After Party update will feature new cosmetic items for players to customize their characters. These cosmetics are scheduled to arrive in October, prior to the level additions. The game, developed by Fancy Games and published by Secret Mode, aims to blend a party atmosphere with its signature horror elements, allowing players to dress up in new skins, potentially even as the entities that inhabit the Backrooms.
Escape the Backrooms, which launched in Early Access in 2022, has seen substantial popularity, with over 12 million players since its release. The game supports one to four-player cooperative play and currently features more than 30 levels. It is available on multiple platforms, including PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
This update follows a tease at the Triple-I Initiative showcase. In related news, film and TV adaptations of Embark Studios' Arc Raiders and The Finals are also in development, with Chernin Entertainment, involved in the recent A24 Backrooms film, attached to those projects.
